Pierre is the capital of South Dakota, a state of the United States of America. As of the 2000 census, it has a population of 13,876. Pierre is the county seat of Hughes County. The Pierre area is a beautiful place to live and work. Our wonderful little community is located "on the river" where that is more than just a geographic statement. The Missouri River, with the Oahe Dam, offers two spectacular lakes for boating, sailing, swimming and the
finest freshwater fishing anywhere. We would like to invite you to visit our communities for yourself and see if you don’t agree! Being the state capital, we have a lot of history, culture, shopping, a hands-on science center, museums, and wonderful restaurants and motels, which will provide fun activities for all ages.
